INTRODUCTION
Scott’s Republic (formerly Scott’s Emulsion) is a four-piece instrumental band from the Philippines. It consists of 4 individuals with one goal – to spread happiness through their music. They are straight edge and they are not communists. The band's current line-up consists of Scott Silva (lead guitarist), Brandon Jimenez (drummer), Jeff Alvares (bassist), and Carlos Tatlonghari (rhythm guitarist). Scott's Republic has not ceased to make music since its formation around mid 2010.
HISTORY
Pre-Scott’s Republic Days (2009): Scott Silva left his boy band to pursue his dreams of creating his own music. He was supposed to have a solo career but he realized he needed other people to realize his dreams. An audition was held for his future band members.
Scott’s Emulsion (mid 2010 – late 2010): Scott’s band line-up was completed. The band consisted of Scott Silva on lead guitars, Brandon Jimenez on drums, Jeff Alvares on bass, and Carlos Tatlonghari on rhythm guitars. Something was missing though. They lacked a name. Carlos suggested “Scott’s Emulsion” (cod liver oil) after reading a book about the life works of Jose Rizal. It clicked with the whole band and so they became known as Scott’s Emulsion since then. The band then started recording 24 songs, which are mostly a minute long.
Last Two Songs (early 2011): Scott’s Emulsion recorded two more songs before going into a long hiatus.
Hiatus (mid 2011-late 2011): The band went on a long hiatus after recording 26 songs. Each member went on with their personal lives.
Scott’s Republic (early 2012): Scott’s Emulsion was changed to Scott’s Republic to avoid confusion with cod liver oil. They also designed their uniforms as a symbol of their unified vision, which is to spread happiness using their music.
New Songs, Live Tours, and Record Deal (mid 2012): Mid-2012 was a very active year for the band. During this time, they took part in live tours such as the POM Warped Tour 2012 and the 2012 Faceless Festival, got added to The Corner, and were offered a spot at POM Records – something they are very grateful of. They were also able to produce around 12 songs in this span of time.
Around July 11, 2012, Scott’s Republic was officially added to The Corner, an awesome website where information about awesome Punk-O-Matic 2 bands can be found.
Scott’s Republic officially became a part of POM Records at July 30, 2012. Under POM Records, August 4, 2012, their debut album “Land Of The Rising Star” was released.
2nd Anniversary, Last 2 Songs, and Hiatus (late 2012): September 6, 2012, Scott’s Republic celebrated their 2nd year as a band. After recording their last 2 songs for 2012 (one of which is an electronic song), they decided to part from each other and go on a hiatus. The reason for this is for them to replenish their spent creative batteries and also, to gather ideas for the songs they’re going to make on 2013.
Extended Hiatus and Preparation for the next album (early 2013-present): Scott’s Republic is currently on hiatus. Scott is currently focused on managing his restaurant business. Brandon is busy teaching martial arts to his students. Jeff is busy tutoring kids who are preparing for their high school entrance exams. Carlos finally gathered the courage to go on a job-hunting spree. The band, however, still meets during the free times of its members, in order to prepare for their next album. The band’s next album is set to be released around late 2013 or early 2014.
Inactive Status (late 2013-present): POM Records lost touch with the band but we hope over the years the members have been doing well.

MEMBERS
Scott Silva (Lead Guitar)
Scott Silva used to be in a pop boy band. He left after expressing his desire to create his own music. Initially, he was supposed to have a solo career but then he decided later on that he is better in a band setting. Scott had a vision of creating music for the fun of it and not for the money. Sure, he was doing well in his boy band but he felt like he was not prospering creatively because he was singing and dancing to other people’s songs. Scott never regrets taking that leap of faith and making a change in his life.
Brandon Christopher Jimenez (Drums)
Brandon Jimenez is the only openly gay member of Scott’s Republic. 99.9% of the people he meets are always surprised when they find out he’s gay because according to them, “he doesn’t look and act gay”. During his stint as a mixed martial arts fighter, he was known as “The Predator” and “Take-down” because of his vicious submission moves and take-downs. Brandon got his musical talent by accident after recovering from a brain hemorrhage from his 40th mixed martial arts fight. He can listen to a musical piece once and perfectly execute it on whatever instrument he gets his hands on. He’s now retired from fighting and is now making a living as a mixed martial arts instructor.
Jefferson "Jeff" Alvares (Bass Guitar)
Jeff Alvares is an eccentric elementary school teacher, who believes he is the incarnation of Son Goku from Dragonball. His students think he’s a funny clown and a cool role model while his co-teachers describe him as a weird man who’s a bad example for his students. Once, the school principal scolded Jeff for coming to school with his hair dyed blond. Jeff answered the principal “Don’t mess with me when I’m in my super Saiyan form” and then gave her a “kame-hame-ha”. He almost lost his job. Jeff may be a rebel sometimes but people love his positive aura and his sense of humor.
Carlos Tatlonghari Jr. (Rhythm Guitar)
Carlos Tatlonghari is a med school dropout and lived as a hikikomori for the past 2 years of his life. He never left his house for 2 years because he was shameful of being a dropout. His parents and older siblings are all doctors and his family describes him as a failure and the family’s own black sheep. Carlos turned to music and emotional poetry to escape the harsh expectations of people around him. For 2 years, he spent his time playing the guitar, writing emotional lyrics, talking to stray cats that sleep in his window, and growing a beard. Carlos may have an overbearing family but he has never thought of rebelling against them.

INFLUENCE
Scott’s Republic’s music is simply Scott’s Republic – music that sounds mostly like anime opening and closing theme songs complete with a peculiar title. Their music is also heavy and light just like menstrual periods. If Scott’s Republic were a drink, then it would be Four Seasons. If it were a dog, then it would be a mutt. Basically, Scott’s Republic is a collective effort from all its members. Scott’s vision, Brandon’s passionate fury, Jeff’s positivity and eccentricity, and Carlos’s melancholy combined gives life to Scott’s Republic’s awesome songs.
As for influences, Scott’s Republic was mostly inspired by metal and rock music. Their favourite song is “A Little Piece Of Heaven” by Avenged Sevenfold because according to them, “it’s 8 minutes of epic-ness and genius rolled into one song.”
Also, each member of Scott’s Republic has their own taste in music. Scott is more of a pop/mainstream guy. Brandon loves anything heavy and angry, which explains his love for metal and rock. Jeff is a big fan of the 80s and weird experimental music. Carlos will listen to any depressing song he can get his hands on. The only thing that binds each of them is their vision of spreading happiness through their music.
