High School and College Days (2000-2006)
Back in 2000, in Saint-Rédempteur, two friends, Étienne and Éric started playing music together. At the time, Étienne was just starting playing drums while Éric was playing guitar since he was 12, in 1998. They were mostly influenced by pop-punk music that was really present at the time, like Blink 182, Lit and many more. Both guys had some nice time and made it mostly for fun, but after Étienne bought "Is This It" from the Strokes in 2001, the two guys decided to make more alternative rock music, and they wanted to be big. After a friend of them showed them "The White Stripes", they taught that they could make music even if they had no bassist. Éric actually said at the time that bass was not that important in the end... Anyways, they had their band, called "The Lions" as a tribute to all the "The Hives", "The Vines", "The Strokes", etc. of these days.
In 2003, the two guys had to take different ways. As Étienne would move to Jonquière to study in media communications to become a TV host, Éric would stay in the region and study social nature, though he had no idea what he wanted to do. He would still continue playing guitar and making some bands with friends, which would all fail miserably. But these years would not be in vain, as he would, during a practice, get in an argument with his bassist, telling him that he was better than him and that bass was easy anyways. The bassist would then suggest he grabs the bass and try to play the song. Éric failed it all, but somehow felt in love with the instrument. He started to take lessons and eventually, at his 18th birthday, he would receive a used Musicman Stingray.
Meanwhile, Étienne met three students, Pierre, Marie-France and Steve, and form a band. When searching for a name, Étienne said "Well we could call ourselves Spanky. That's a funny name I guess, and it sounds great on the tongue, with the n-k combination". Steve then answered that the name was not serious enough, so Étienne replied "well we could add something serious after that then, like "Revolution" or some cheesy stuff like that? [general laughs]". The name was then voted.
At the time, the whole band had difficulties finding a style. While Étienne was really in rock and roll and punk, Steve, playing guitar, was in hardcore and old school punk. Pierre, the bassist, was a huge metal fan while Marie-France, the singer, was more into pop. The band broke up and reformed at least a thousand times, but never were able to quite have success. Steve was by then really pissed by life, and he would somehow throw that frustration during practice sessions. He later admitted that he was taking drugs at the time...
After three years of party, each member of the band would go to separate direction and call the band officially dead.
No serious recording were left from these years where the four students spent more time partying than practicing
(and studying, but that's another story...)

The Real Spanky Revolution and First Gigs! (2006-2008)
Étienne went to the UQAM, a University of Montréal. This is when he was surprised to cross his great buddy Éric in the hallway one warm day of September 2006. He learned that Éric was getting into psychology and already had one year done. The two guys then settled a meeting at a A&W to remind themselves about the great times. They taught it would be really cool if they would start again to play music. After all, they gained a lot of experience with the years and were now really talented musicians. When looking for a guitarist, Étienne gave a call to Steve, from the college years band. Steve was the member from which Étienne developed the best complicity at the time, and he knew he was a good guitarist, so he suggested that he would be the best man to conclude this power trio. Since Étienne was the one that came up with the name back in college, he was able to take back "Spanky Revolution" with his new band.
Steve was not able to work anywhere else that at a radio station where the average listener was over 50-60 years old, and he really hated his job, so he accepted right away the proposition and slammed the door of the local radio. He actually never told anyone there he was out. The station knew they lost a member when they called him on his cellphone when they realized there were no animator for the late show. He was practicing 6 hours of road away from there. The three boys would rent a local to play their music and eventually stated to make some shows in Montréal and Québec City, while always making a detour to Saint-Rédempteur. As they were getting more and more recognized, they released few demos.
In 2008, the band "Weedz", a California punk band, were in Laval at the Vana's for a show, and the owner of the mythic bar suggested that Spanky Revolution would do the first part. In interview after the show, one of the guitarists of the band said this about them: "They might not be the best musicians, but they know how to play with their soul, how to play as a band and how to play zwizing loud. They have a great sound; I'm sad that there are only so few bands like this nowadays." The guitarist was actually named John...
Few months later, the band Weedz had difficulties. They were all openly smoking weed, even sometimes in live performances, but the members were more and more being addicted to other drugs. The band finally broke up, just like they broke the heart of hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, especially in North America. John went in detox and got fully back up from his addiction to numerous substances.

John, First Albums, and Cookies and Biscuits Records (2008-2010)
In early 2009, Spanky Revolution was ready to release a first real album. Their producer had the cool idea then to get a special guess for the song "It's All About the Smile" to give more depth into it. He finally went able to call John to join them in studio. He was really excited about this project and in the end, the chemistry between the band members was so great that everyone agreed that John should be in the band. Due to financial problems, the label could not give them enough studio time and good enough technician. The band stilll wanted to release albums, so they gave to the public "SnR" and "Here Comes the Revolution". The two albums were actually recorded before John was part of the band, and Éric actually played rhythm guitar instead of bass on both of them.
In late 2009, the band were still not able to create anything due to their shitty label. They had no appropriate equipment and the label manager wanted them to play something that wasn't them, to make pop-punk commercial music to get more money. They therefore decided to slam the door and after a couple of fights, they were able to get out of this hell. Étienne then had the idea of creating a new label. With the help of a friend that he meant during tours, Leoshi, he created "Cookies & Biscuits Records" and slowly got more and more people to join in.
Spanky Revolution really wanted to give the best album possible and therefore, didn't rushed too much on their album. They scratched all but two songs from their first days with the bad label (It's All About the Smile and Blasting Off the Sun). The whole band was also managing the label and therefore wanted to spend as much time as possible to be sure to build something solid. Meanwhile, Étienne started working on a solo project, that would use more electronic sounds that what the band used to do. In February, the members of his band decided to shoulder him up and to play the guitars, bass and a couple of other instruments with him. The result of this was "Tonight Is the Night".

Punk-o-Matic 2 Era and Fame (2010-present)
Finally, after months of waiting, the band got themselves in June in studio to record what would be their first "real" album, "Racing the Sunset". The band were able to get help from professional mixer Downfall-RiD as well as Nocturne and Jod.Drummer, two awesome graphics artists to make for them cover arts for every song. The band also had the opportunity to record a song with Warlost. The album was released on September 18th, 2010.
The band started touring and working a lot on a second album. The mixed critics toward the album forced the four guys to work even more on melodies and on feelings. After finishing the construction of the "Cookies Basements" studios in Saint-Rédempteur as well as the bar "The Moo Moo's", also in the hometown of the two "original members", they entered to record "We Won't Die". After a single album including a collaborate with The Ghost Of Rick James and Burger, the album finally came out for the new year, on January 1st 2011. The album featured the singles "Riot", "Anthem" and "Snow on Manhattan" as well as the collab with Spectre "Tout Doit Brûler".
On April 23rd, Spanky Revolution released a EP for the fans called "You Won't Know" containing songs under the same form as the ones in "Tonight Is the Night". The songs were recorded mostly in Summer 2010, but the band decided to wait before releasing it so they would not overshadow their first two "official" albums. The album also includes Étienne's girlfriend Jenna playing keyboards.
Starting on April, the band entered in studio part-time to start working on a new album called "Poneycore", altough they pretty much record stuf every now and then at their wonderfull studios. The title of the album actually comes from a discussion about all the core bands with the guys of Suicide by Spoon about all the core styles these days. The band this time decided to restrain the amount of track at 10 to make sure to only give the best of their sessions while giving a complete work. For this album, the band tried to work with other big bands such as Suicide by Spoon, Disrupt, Into Avoca, Dudes with Grey Pants, Pay the Price and much more.
Since Racing the Sunset, Spanky Revolution released three single albums - including two songs with edited and revisited drums (Riot and Anthem) - three auto-produced music video, composed the official song for POM-TV, gave shows all around the world and wrote a freaking long biography.
