One of the most important 1st Assault songs made. This song represents the transition from The Ghost of Rick James to the band now. It's a proto-song to what eventually would become their ultimate sound. The song isn't quite as polished, structurally cohesive or directionally focused as some their later releases such as "Windy City Takeover" and "Bloody Money" but it gives fans a great idea of how the band transformed themselves. The End is about making a decision about ones life. It appeared on their Demo (re-release) with songs from The Ghost of Rick James era. Here's a blast from the past. Download their Demo:

John Wayne, guitarist for 1st Assault, was featured in "White Splash - Time We Want", where he did a solo and added a bit of 1st Assault's fast aggressive style to a short sequence; here is the excerpt. He was slightly drunk during the recording... just FYI.

GENRE: ROCK Tracklist
City X is an American rock band from Annapolis, Maryland. Formed in 2003 by Alec (guitar), his cousin Micah (Bass), and their friend Dan (drums), they released their debut self titled album in 2005. After moderate success they signed onto Cookies & Biscuits Records where they began touring with other artists like Spanky Revolution and Bishop Butters. The band hired Brian (guitars) for their 2012 album “The Show”. Despite being the most successful album to date, the band began a hiatus in 2013 that would last 8 years before their return in late 2021, where they began writing and recording their 5th studio album, simply titled “V” (Roman numeral 5). They’re currently signed to POM Records where they released “A Cure for the Ache”, their first song since 2012. During the bands hiatus, Alec continued making music as a solo artist. These songs have a more detuned metal focus, which in an interview he stated was the direction he suggested City X depart to. “Vertigo” for example, the lead single off Alec’s 2015 debut album, was originally intended for what would’ve been City X’s then 5th album. Alec then released “The Artist” in 2017, “Animal” in 2019, and “Tales of Montgomery I: Into The Well” in 2022, the latter being the first in a trilogy of concept albums. “We try not to overwhelm the listener, but rather give them an open space to interpret the music in their own way lyrically, something I believe isn’t a common practice in this area. Everyone’s trying to create the most intricate and complex pieces that, for me at least, is hard to listen to sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, there’s incredibly talented guys out there, but we don’t feel the need to show off at full throttle 100% of the time. That’s just not our style. That being said, we really tried to make each song as memorable as the last, and I think we did a good job in that department. We definitely tried to innovate in a few areas, layering and even bending the rules somewhat. Speaking in reality for a second, take Roll the Dice for example. Not only does the song feature 3 guitars at the finale, but uses 2 separate data strings to create a song that’s longer than the allotted 5 minutes. Just a simple edit in any DAW and you can do some pretty cool things.” |
